What makes a good tip?
A good tip is specific, newsworthy and relevant to Swedish public life — covering policy developments, public-interest stories, riksdagen and regeringen, municipal politik, wirtschaft news, the economy, culture or society with a clear Swedish angle.
We prioritise exclusive information that reveals how decisions are made, how public money is spent, or how policies affect ordinary people. Examples include leaked documents, internal reports, whistleblower accounts, data indicating systemic failures, or original observations from committee hearings, council meetings or corporate filings. Tips about emerging trends in Swedish society — demographic shifts, labour market changes, cultural policy impacts — are also welcome. We do not accept unsolicited press releases or promotional material as tips.

What should you include in your tip?
Include the core facts, your connection to the story, any supporting documents or sources, and a brief explanation of why you believe this is in the public interest.
Provide names, dates, locations and relevant context. If you have documents, state what they are and how you obtained them. For story ideas, outline the angle and the evidence you have. If you wish to remain anonymous, indicate that clearly in your message. Including a reliable way to reach you (encrypted email, Signal, phone) helps us verify and follow up. You do not need to be a journalist; we value tips from citizens, experts, civil servants and eyewitnesses alike.
How do we verify tips?
Our standards desk, led by Laura Hoffmann as Ansvarig för faktagranskning, reviews every tip against our fact-checking policy and sources & standards guidelines before any reporting begins.
We cross-check information with original sources, public records, official databases and independent experts. Documents are examined for authenticity, metadata and chain of custody. We may contact you for clarification. Publication depends on corroboration from at least one independent source unless the information is self-evidently in the public domain. Tips that cannot be verified are not used, and we inform you of the outcome where possible. Our editorial mission is trustworthy journalism — we never publish unverified claims.
What about confidentiality?
We treat all tipsters with strict confidentiality and will protect your identity to the fullest extent permitted by Swedish and international law, as outlined in our privacy policy.
You may submit tips anonymously, but providing a secure contact method helps us verify and keep you informed. We do not share your personal data with third parties. If we intend to use information that could identify you, we will first seek your explicit consent. What happens after you submit a tip?
Our newsdesk reviews every tip within three working days. If the tip is promising, a member of the editorial team will contact you to discuss next steps and begin verification.
We may ask follow-up questions or request additional documents. You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt (an automated reply, or a personal note if you provided a contact). Tips that are not pursued are securely deleted within 30 days, unless you give permission to retain them. We will let you know if your tip leads to a published article, and we will link back to you only with your agreement. The entire process is designed to be transparent and respectful of your time and trust.
How can you report a correction?
If you believe we have published an error related to a tip or any article, please email corrections@blickindex.de with details, and refer to our corrections policy for how we handle amendments.
We investigate all correction requests promptly. Include the article URL, the specific error, and your source for the correct information. The standards desk led by Laura Hoffmann reviews each case. If we confirm a mistake, we will issue a correction prominently in the article and update the online version. We take accuracy seriously and are grateful when readers help us uphold our journalistic standards.
