At Blickindex (blickindex.de), owned and operated by Rhein Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number 132410), we are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. Our standards desk, led by Laura Hoffmann (Ansvarig för faktagranskning), oversees all corrections to ensure they meet our editorial standards.

Who is responsible for handling corrections at Blickindex?

Laura Hoffmann, our Ansvarig för faktagranskning, leads the standards desk that reviews and processes all correction requests. She reports directly to Chefredaktör Thomas Weber, who has final authority over publication decisions and major corrections. The team can be reached via our team page.

The standards desk operates independently from the daily newsroom to maintain objectivity. Laura Hoffmann (emma.sandberg@blickindex.de) oversees fact-checking, source verification, and the integrity of published corrections. Any error that affects the factual accuracy of an article is treated as a material error and handled with priority.

How can readers report an error?

Readers can report any suspected error by emailing corrections@blickindex.de or by using the general contact form at info@blickindex.de. We encourage including the article URL, a clear description of the alleged error, and any supporting sources.

Reports can also be submitted through our contact page or by phone via the Swedish editorial line: +49 30 577 012 40. The standards desk acknowledges receipt of all correction requests within two business days. Anonymous tips are accepted, but verified contact details help us follow up more efficiently.

What happens after a correction is reported?

The standards desk reviews each report against the original article, sources, and editorial records. If the error is confirmed, we publish an updated version of the article with a clear correction note at the top or bottom explaining what was changed and why.

Material errors – those that change the meaning, introduce misinformation, or violate our editorial policy – receive both an update and a permanent correction note. Minor typographical errors are fixed without annotation unless they affect the substance. The correction note includes the date of the change and a brief description. For significant errors, Chefredaktör Thomas Weber may author a separate correction statement if warranted.

Target response time for a substantive update is within 24 hours for urgent errors, and within five business days for non-urgent items. If a resolution cannot be reached, the reader may escalate the matter to Thomas Weber by emailing anders.lindqvist@blickindex.de or by using the complaints procedure.

How does Blickindex ensure transparency in corrections?

All correction notes are clearly signposted in the published article and archived in our correction log (available on request). We disclose the nature of the correction and the date it was made. Our approach is guided by the same standards set out in our editorial policy and fact-checking policy.

Readers can also review our broader commitment to accuracy in our sources and standards page. The standards desk reports quarterly on correction statistics to ensure accountability. We do not remove published articles solely because of errors; we correct and retain them with full transparency, except in exceptional legal circumstances as defined in our copyright and takedown policy.

Our commitments

  • Correct all material errors promptly and with a visible correction note.
  • Acknowledge every correction request within two business days.
  • Maintain a correction log available for public inspection on request.
  • Provide a clear escalation path to Chefredaktör Thomas Weber if resolution is not reached.
  • Never allow commercial relationships to influence the handling or disclosure of corrections.
